No Dump & Runs, Please

When you want to take on more tasks, and your manager wants to delegate to your strengths, skills, and passion, that is a win-win. That is true delegation.

Recognize when you are being asked to do something that is out of your skill set, something you have no passion for. You don't want a task dropped in your lap out of convenience. That is called a dump and run.

Try to say no to tasks that are not truly delegated. The best person for the task should take it on. When this happens, the manager is happy and staff is happy and productive.
